Since opening in March 2000 the EDF Energy London Eye has become an iconic landmark and a symbol of modern Britain. The London Eye is the UK’s most popular paid for visitor attraction, visited by over 3.5 million people a year. A breathtaking feat of design and engineering, it took seven years and the skills of hundreds of people from five countries to make the London Eye a reality. The height of the London Eye is 135m making it the fourth tallest structure in London after the BT Tower, Tower 42 and One Canada Square in Canary Wharf.

Passengers in the London Eye’s capsules can see up to 40 kilometres in all directions. Each rotation takes about 30 minutes, meaning a capsule travels at a stately 26cm per second, or 0.9km (0.6 miles) per hour – twice as fast as a tortoise sprinting; allowing passengers to step on and off without the wheel having to stop.

Hogs Back Brewery, Tongham, Surrey

The Hogs Back Brewery is located in 16th century farm buildings located in the village of Tongham, Surrey, between Farnham and Guildford. They are open to the public for Brewery Tours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings as well as Saturday and Sunday. Saturday Tours usually start at 10:30am, 1:00pm, 3:30pm and 6:00pm and Sundays. Each tour is limited to 20 places but can often cater for larger groups, just phone 01252 784495 to discuss your requirements.

The London Palladium

The London Palladium – designed by Frank Matcham -opened on Boxing Day 1910 and became famous, partly through television, as the “Ace Variety Theatre of the World”. It was a venue to which all performers aspired and has hosted more annual Royal Variety Performances than any other theatre. Among the greats that have played here are Bob Hope, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Sophie Tucker, Ethel Merman, Howard Keel, Arthur Askey, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Tommy Steele, Julie Andrews, Ken Dodd, the Two Ronnies, Bruce Forsyth and Cliff Richard. Sister Act is a divine new musical comedy now raising the roof at the London Palladium. As you can see from this photo taken July 2010, we can take you door to door.

Southends Sealife Centre

We have been to Southends Sealife Centre many times, but this year we took Jules et Lis (out of school club) and they had a terrific time. Southends Sealife Centre is the south easts premier aquatic attraction, with over 40 unique displays featuring sea life from all over the world. Throughout the themed Aquarium you will see many marine creatures that you would find locally in the Thames Estuary, such as Rays, Crabs, Starfish and many more. They also have a vast tropical section with creatures from more exotic waters such as Lionfish, Porcupine Puffer fish and a very famous Clown fish, as well as their new Tropical Sharks exhibit for 2010! There is also a nursery area where you will find the newborn and where they treat any poorly residents.

We go to Royal Ascot every year and our customers say its the best day of the social calendar. Ascot Racecourse is synonymous with high quality, style and excellence. It hosts some of the best Flat racing in the world and offers the highest prize money during the National Hunt Season. It’s easy to see why Ascot Racecourse fixtures are up near the top of any racing calendar throughout the year. For Royal Ascot week ladies with a Grandstand Admission ticket are required to dress in a manner appropriate to a smart occasion. Many wear hats although this is not compulsory. Gentlemen in the Grandstand Admission area must wear a shirt and tie, preferably with a suit or jacket.

Le Manoir Quat Aux Saisons – We visited this fabulous restaurant early September 2010. The modern French menu at Raymond Blancs two Michelin starred Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons restaurant has been described as a twist of imaginative genius and the cuisine is undoubtedly the focus of every guests visit. The quality of the food stems from the freshness and purity of its ingredients. The two acre kitchen garden produces 90 types of vegetable and over 70 varieties of herb, which are used in Le Manoirs kitchen. Raymond Blanc has been a champion of the organic movement for the last 20 years and comments flavour alone would be a reason to buy organic food, quite apart from its freedom from additives.
